Johnsonville's "Don't Pierce the Brat" is a humorous parody on a classic '80s love ballad that brings this common grilling blunder to the forefront. Piercing the outer skin of a brat while grilling releases the meat's juices, leaving it dry. Through Aug. 30, brat fans can record and submit their own version of this summer anthem for a chance to win $5,000 and free Johnsonville brats for a year.

To enter, consumers can log on to Johnsonville's Facebook page to download the "Don't Pierce the Brat" song lyrics and music video. There they can create their own video and upload it to the Facebook application. People who can't carry a tune need not worry—style, creativity and passion are the main criteria for a winning entry. Or, for those who just want to view the video, it is also available on YouTube.
Entries must be submitted by Aug. 30. The winning entry will be selected by Sept. 9 and will be announced shortly thereafter.
