Catherine Balsam-Schwaber Promoted To Senior Vice President In NBCUniversal's Integrated Media Group
Seasoned Marketing Executive Brings Extensive Digital and Marketing-to-Women Expertise To Her New Position
NEW YORK, Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- NBCUniversal executive Catherine Balsam-Schwaber has been promoted to Senior Vice President, NBCUniversal's Integrated Media group (IM), part of NBCUniversal's Entertainment & Digital Networks and Integrated Media (E&DN/IM) division. Balsam-Schwaber will serve as the most senior executive under John Shea , CMO and EVP of Integrated Media, the division that drives strategy, innovation, and creative for custom cross-platform programs across NBCUniversal's portfolio, and encompasses Women at NBCU, Green is Universal, Healthy at NBCU and Hispanics at NBCU.
Most recently, Balsam-Schwaber was Senior Vice President of Marketing for iVillage. In her new position, she will be charged with leading IM's signature cross-property, multi-platform marketing campaigns, and identifying ways the entire NBCUniversal portfolio can innovatively synergize to meet ad partners' needs. She will report to Shea, and have direct oversight of IM's research, sales marketing, trade marketing and events groups.

Balsam-Schwaber will remain a leader on NBCU's Digital Marketing Council, which identifies company-wide digital priorities, where her extensive knowledge of the digital space and marketing to women make her a key asset.
Prior to joining NBCUniversal in 2009, Balsam-Schwaber was a Vice President in Integrated Marketing at MTV Networks, where her purview included MTV, MTV2, mtvU, and mtv.com. Before that, she was Vice President for Marketing Partnerships and Programming at Rock The Vote, and held marketing positions at Time Warner and AOL. Throughout her marketing career, she has cultivated an expertise in developing cross-portfolio, multi-platform deals and campaigns.
Notably, before turning her focus to marketing, the multi-dimensional executive began her career in the Clinton White House as an assistant to the Deputy Press Secretary for Operations, and as a Staff Assistant within the Health Care group. Balsam-Schwaber's experience there led to a stint as technical advisor on Castle Rock Entertainment's film, "The American President," which she immediately followed with a role as Tom Brokaw 's associate producer and researcher at NBC News.
Balsam-Schwaber holds a BA from Brandeis University and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business. She owns Aleuvian Vineyards in Argentina, and helps drive awareness for the National Kidney Association. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and twins.
