Chicagoland Toys for Tots Partners with Dealer Expo
Annual Motorcycle Parade to take place Sunday, December 7 in Chicago
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade has partnered with Dealer Expo to support the annual toy drive and motorcycle parade. Chicagoland Toys for Tots is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity that collects tens of thousands of toys in hundreds of toy boxes and distributes them to individuals, outreaches, hospitals, churches, shelters, and schools throughout the Chicagoland area. It is also the nation's single largest contributor to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation.
Attendees to Dealer Expo are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the trade show for donation. The toys collected will be presented to the charity's board members on Sunday, December 7 at Dealer Expo taking place at McCormick Place West.
Dealer Expo attendees can also participate in the annual parade, which takes place on December 7, the last day of the trade show. Sharon D. Allen, Director of Public Relations for the Chicagoland Toys for Tots, will be leading attendees from McCormick Place West to the parade start line and back again for Dealer Expo's presentation of collected toys to the Toys for Tots Association.
"Chicagoland Toys for Tots is here all year and is much more than a parade," says Chicagoland Toys for Tots President George Lester Fortier, Jr. "But it is quite a sight to see over 50,000 motorcycles riding up Western Avenue on the first Sunday in December, just to ensure that every kid gets a Christmas. It's the largest motorcycle parade in the country, right down the middle of the 28th largest city in the world. They reroute the buses and police officers block the intersections. The city of Chicago has been amazingly supportive."
The 37th annual Chicagoland Toys for Tots motorcycle ride will take place rain or shine on December 7 at 9:30am. The parade begins at 83rd and Western Avenue, travels north on Western and ends at the Lane Tech/DeVry Campus. The city's red light cameras have counted as many as 55,000 motorcycles riding past the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of spectators.
