Cox Enterprises and The League of United Latin American Citizens Announce National Partnership
ATLANTA, June 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Enterprises today announced a national partnership with The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). As a gold sponsor, Cox will provide monetary support, as well as promote LULAC and its initiatives through Cox's media properties.
"We're proud to partner with the nation's largest and oldest Hispanic organization," said Robert Cahn, Cox Enterprises' senior director of leadership development, diversity and training. "LULAC and Cox operate in many of the same locations across the country, and we believe that diversity and the contribution of the Hispanic community makes these locations stronger."
As part of the partnership, Cox will serve as a judicial level sponsor at LULAC's 2011 annual convention, as well as co-sponsor the Youth Awards Banquet. The convention takes place June 27 – July 2 in Cincinnati, Ohio and draws more than 20,000 participants each year, including top leaders from government, business, and the Hispanic community.
"We are proud of the partnership with Cox and look forward to a long friendship with a company that has a strong record of bringing vital resources to the Latino community," said Brent Wilkes, LULAC's national executive director. "LULAC recognizes Cox's longstanding efforts to support countless organizations across the country because they, like LULAC, understand the importance of providing vital resources to our populations."
"In addition to being a sponsor of our 82nd national convention in Cincinnati, we are also excited to have Cox sponsor LULAC's 2012 National Legislative Conference and Awards Gala where critical issues affecting Hispanics will be addressed and where key leader's strong commitment to the Hispanic community will be highlighted," added Wilkes.
In addition to LULAC, Cox also has national partnerships with the Human Rights Campaign and the National Urban League. Cox and its companies also actively support countless local diversity organizations across the country.
The League of United Latin American Citizens, the largest and oldest Hispanic membership organization in the country, advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating through over 900 LULAC councils nationwide.
