"These pages will provide inspiration to all high school and college seniors to undertake their own fun, meaningful journeys," commented Chancellor Stephen Spahn of The Dwight School in New York City. "For the rest of us, regardless of age, the book is a reminder to seize the day, explore, and get our own experiences on paper to share with others."
Loya's entertaining collection includes his college summer internship with Nike Spain during the Barcelona Summer Olympics, teaching in the inner city as part of Teach For America, sleeping on Guatemalan pyramids, donning his first Speedo in Rio de Janeiro, competing in Ironman New Zealand, surviving an audit, completing a six-day horseback crossing of the Andes, hosting his own three-day James Bond theme wedding in Argentina, and a wide range of other experiences with colorful settings, larger-than-life characters, and insightful reflections. Each story also contains "Bonus Adventures" on the website which provide links to images, videos, audio commentaries, and other engaging multimedia content.
"This young adventurer shares seminal life experiences that resonate with the reader on many levels," remarked Susan Nelson, Head of School at The Webb Schools in Claremont, California. "I was reminded more than once of Tennyson's Ulysses—'To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield.' It's the ultimate 'no regrets' collection of vignettes and stories."
Loya, who has voiced everything from Olympic promos to in-flight videos for many Fortune 500 companies, is already recording the audiobook version, available this summer. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, Loya will release an e-book in Spanish this summer while the Portuguese-language version will be released in 2013.
Loya holds an MBA from Columbia University and graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College with a BA in History. Since 2003, he has also served as the Director of Development for The Dwight School, a prestigious international school in New York City with campuses in London, Vancouver Island, Beijing, and Seoul. When asked how he managed to find time to complete this book project, he replied smiling, "I make every minute count!"—he wrote the majority of the book during his daily commute. Loya lives outside New York City with his wife and daughter. The book is now available via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Ingram as a Hardcover ($24.95, 252 pages, ISBN: 978-0-9847637-0-2) and will soon be available as an e-book in English ($9.95, ISBN: 978-0-9847637-2-6).
