Landgraf received the Center's Special Recognition Award for his dedication and outstanding commitment to the ELC. Since December 2008, ETS and ELC have worked together to support ELC's efforts toward expanding their advocacy efforts on behalf of underserved students in New Jersey to others nationwide.

ETS provides financial support and assistance for ELC's national initiatives and ELC helps ETS advance its groundbreaking research and policy agenda aimed at closing the nation's achievement gap. The first collaboration between the two organizations was the 2008 ETS symposium on School Finance and the Achievement Gap: Funding Programs that Work.

"We appreciate ETS's support of our efforts to strengthen and improve public schools, especially those serving low-income and minority students," said David Sciara, Executive Director of the Center. "Educational equity and fairness have been of critical interest to Kurt for many years and with his unflagging support, we are standing up for public school students across the nation."

The featured lecturer this year was Wade Henderson, President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. His lecture focused on the need to strengthen the federal government's role in establishing equal access to quality education and the prospects of advancing equity in President Barack Obama's second term. Landgraf served as a panelist responding to Henderson's lecture. Other panelists included New Jersey State Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly (Paterson, NJ) and Vincent Giordano, Executive Director of the New Jersey Education Association.

Glenn Schroeder, Esq., ETS's Senior Vice President and General Counsel, serves on the Education Law Center's Board of Trustees.
