Forum das Americas: In Cambridge, Mario Garnero presents urban solutions to Brazilian and British leaders
The entrepreneur participates in the British-Brazilian Conversa, whose objective is to stablish a regular discussion channel between the two nations.
SAO PAULO, Sept. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Business, economic and education leaders from Brazil and the United Kingdom have created a forum in order to strengthen the ties between the countries and explore potential opportunities. The British-Brazilian Conversa will take place on 5 to 7 September at Cambridge University and counts on the support of the former Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and current Leader of the House of Commons, William Hague.
Mario Garnero, known for his engagement in social and environmental issues, will discuss urban solutions in the session "Can we make our cities better?" on Saturday and will present the results of Forum das Americas' "Favela do Leme Restoration Program", a showcase project for the city of Rio de Janeiro designed in close cooperation with the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea of Italy and the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro. The 2012 London Olympic Games Director of Sustainability Dan Epstein will compose the table along with former Lord Mayor of London Sir David Wootton and Ricardo Pelegrini, IBM Brazil's Vice President of Industries and Strategic Initiatives for Emerging Markets.
Other participants include Alex Ellis, British Ambassador; Roberto Jaguaribe, Brazilian Ambassador; Luciano Coutinho, President of BNDES; and Mauro Kern, President of EMBRAER. They will discuss themes such as infrastructure, science and innovation, energy, defence and aerospace.
Mario Garnero, one of the most successful Brazilian entrepreneurs, is President of the Board of Garnero Group-Brasilinvest. By promoting international businesses in different industries he attracts important transferences of technology and knowledge to Brazil.
A Law graduate, Garnero was director of Volkswagen Brazil, headed the Brazilian Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ANFAVEA) and Brazil's National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
Garnero is also the president of Forum das Americas and United Nations Association – Brazil (UNAB).
