GENCO Expands Healthcare Supply Chain Capabilities into Canada

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- GENCO, the leader in product lifecycle logistics®, has opened its first healthcare distribution center in Canada to serve a major medical device and supplies manufacturer.

The facility, located in the greater Toronto area, is utilized to distribute medical-surgical products, cold-chain biologics and spare parts to hospitals and distributors. This facility increases GENCO's total Canadian footprint to more than 9 million square feet of managed warehouse space throughout four provinces. GENCO opened its first Canadian facility in 1997.

The manufacturer wanted to standardize its supply chain while lowering costs and chose GENCO as its 3PL partner. With long-standing healthcare and regulatory expertise in the United States, GENCO was selected after demonstrating its ability to support the stringent requirements enforced by Health Canada--the federal department responsible for helping Canadians maintain and improve their health. These requirements include import holds, quarantine and batch isolation for testing. GENCO also maintains Canadian Standards Association compliance.
