MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Valley's largest mobile conference, GMIC SV, has announced the winner of this year's G-Startup competition. The competition is a global platform for innovative mobile internet startups, giving them an opportunity to connect with leading VCs, seasoned entrepreneurs, international media, and industry peers.
STEMP, an intelligent body thermometer offering continuous temperature monitoring, was chosen as the winner of the competition. Global emergency response network, MUrgency, won the second place, and gaming industry email technology and service provider, Sending.IO, won the third place.
10 short-listed startups had an opportunity to pitch and demo on the G-Startup stage at GMIC SV and participated in pitch camp training and 1:1 mentorship by leading venture capitalists and investors. Top 3 finalists chosen, had the opportunity to present their startup on the Thought Leader stage of GMIC SV 2014, in front of thousands of mobile leaders. The judging panel included Hans Tung, Managing Director at GGV Capital; Doug Renert, Founder & Managing Partner at Tandem Capital; and Chi-Hua Chien, Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Goodwater Capital. The winner received the GMIC grand prize: Trip to GMIC Beijing 2015, 2 complimentary conference passes, round trip airfare, and 3 nights hotel accommodation in Beijing, and special sponsored prize: desk space at nestGSV.
"STEMP was honored to be part of the 2014 GMIC Silicon Valley G-Startup competition. For us, as a bootstrapped startup, making meaningful business connections is important, but managing time and resources is just as important. GMIC gave us an opportunity to get in front of numerous potential customers and partners in a short time. The G-Startup Competition was even more valuable, introducing the entire STEMP leadership team (including other Co-Founders - CEO Zsolt Krajcsik and CFO Barnabas Gero) to several leading venture capitalists, some of whom are quite interested in the technology," said Dave Whelan, STEMP Co-Founder & Chief Business Officer. "We have one investor meeting scheduled already, with others to follow. We even began a couple of partnership conversations at GMIC, one with a fellow G-Startup competitor. We are maximizing the value of the GMIC experience, and we look forward to sharing our progress in Silicon Valley next year."
