Group Lock: The World's First Multi-Person Single Lock for OSHA's LockOut/TagOut

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Safety In Your Hand, Inc., a Silicon Valley start-up, today announces its completed development of the World's first wireless lock for managing a group of persons conducting Lockout/Tagout. Called 'Group Lock', the battery operated padlock is electronically locked / unlocked by each individual's username and password. It is covered by patent 7410101. 'Group Lock' eliminates the lock box and the many locks assigned to each energy source for Lockout/Tagout group protection. One mobile device simultaneously can manage multi-energy sources of an asset, via 'Group Lock' in accordance with OSHA's Lockout/Tagout requirements.

The OSHA regulations are specific when more than one employee is involved in Lockout/Tagout re: 1910.147 (f)(3)(i) and 1910.147(f)(3)(ii)(D). At the recent NSC Safety Exhibition, an OSHA expert agreed that 'Group Lock' met the equivalency and comparable mechanism of the respective clauses within the Lockout/Tagout Standard.

The current Lockout/Tagout practice utilizes the lock box to avoid the mix-up and loss of keys belonging to specific locks.
