InGenius Prep Partners with Teach For America to Help Place Low-Income Students into Top Universities

NEW HAVEN, Conn., Dec. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- InGenius Prep, an admissions counseling company specializing in college, graduate, and professional school admissions, is partnering with Teach For America (TFA) to help place low-income students into highly selective universities. The pilot program will recruit teachers to identify and select 10-12 high school juniors from under-resourced neighborhoods to receive mentorship from college admissions experts through the college application process.

Without financial resources, familial college experience, and community expectations to earn a degree, low-income students are greatly disadvantaged. For years, TFA has been working to eliminate educational inequity and improve the lives of thousands of children by recruiting recent college graduates and professionals to teach.

Inspired by their mission and eager to contribute, InGenius Prep's President, Noah Greenfield, was quoted as saying, "We want to help even the playing field. We want to give these students our tools, guidance, and support, all of which they wouldn't otherwise be able to access. We want to get them into their dream colleges."

In response to the newly formed partnership, TFA VP of Alumni Teacher Leadership, Shannon Wheatley, stated, "The goal is to give children in under-resourced communities the education they deserve, and that's what both InGenius Prep and TFA are striving to achieve."

The pilot program will pair students with former admissions officers and current graduate students from top universities around the world as part of InGenius Prep's financial aid program. As a team, they will work on every aspect of the college application process.
