LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The United Nations Foundation's Shot@Life campaign announced today that all donations made to Shot@Life on #GivingTuesday will be matched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation up to $200,000.
#GivingTuesday, December 2, follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday and is a time for families, businesses and charities to come together to celebrate generosity and to give. The UN Foundation's Shot@Life campaign is embracing the #GivingTuesday movement by rallying support for life-saving global childhood immunizations. Each year, more than 1.5 million children die from vaccine-preventable diseases like measles and pneumonia and one in five children do not have access to the vaccines they need.
In a series of television interviews, Shot@Life Global Advocate and global parenting expert, Jo Frost, best known for her long running international television series- Supernanny, Jo Frost; Family Matters, Family SOS and Extreme Parental Guidance announced the $200,000 matching offer from the Gates Foundation and encouraged Americans to support global childhood vaccines with a gift to Shot@Life this #GivingTuesday.
"With a child dying every 20 seconds from a vaccine-preventable disease we need your help to ensure that every child, no matter where they live, has a healthy shot at life," said Frost. "Join me in supporting Shot@Life this #GivingTuesday and your donation will be matched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation thereby doubling your impact."
