ASTORIA, N.Y., Dec. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnny Pik, of PikTV Motion Piktures LLC, has won a prestigious Award of Merit from The Best Shorts Film Competition. The award was given for Johnny Pik's quirky comedy, Diwali Dream Garage. The short film depicts the bizarre adventures the character faces, in awakening what is deeply buried inside of him and confronting what is holding him back from realizing his dream. Diwali Dream Garage features exceptional performances by Baltsar Beckeld (Austin), Ankit Dogra (Reggie), Tommy Howard (Young Austin) and fantastic work by Emmy award winning Cinematographer Sergei Franklin.
"It is an absolute honor to receive this award and I would like to thank all the fine people at the Best Shorts Competition. Diwali Dream Garage originated as a full length screenplay, written by my sister, Chrysa Pikramenos and me. We then decided to film a short based on the beginnings of the script, which I directed, and Chrysa helped produce. As a director it was amazing to see the actors give life to the characters. I am proud to have been a part of this very talented group of actors and crew. We might have not had big Hollywood names, but I believe in the end we put together an entertaining comedy with the best independent film talent in NYC."
