LGBTQ Economic Justice Week Launches Today
A weeklong series of events focused on rallying the LGBTQ community around the changing economic landscape.
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the SF LGBT Community launched their seventh annual Economic Justice Week, a weeklong series of free events focusing on the economic and social justice issues impacting the LGBTQ community.
The LGBTQ community has long faced discrimination in employment, education, healthcare, and economic supports. Themed "Beyond Survival", the LGBTQ Economic Justice Week will foster the dialogue needed to map the road ahead, while providing comprehensive workshops, services and key resources.
Running today until October 25th, the week includes a Community Town Hall (10/21 from 12:30 to 4:30pm) to voice the community's most pressing needs and mobilize a pathway forward. Other event highlights include a Kickoff Award Reception (10/21 at 5:30pm) and an LGBT Career Fair (10/22 from 12-3pm), showcasing over 40 employers.

- In Conversation: The state of affordable housing (Oct. 20 at 6:00pm)
- Community Town Hall (Oct. 21 at 12:30pm)
- Kickoff Reception (Oct. 21 at 5:30pm)
- LGBT Career Fair (Oct. 22 at Noon)
- Trans & LGBTQI Mixer (Oct. 23 at 6:00pm)
- Seniors Financial Wellness Lunch (Oct. 24 at Noon)
- Homebuyer Bus Tour (Oct. 25 at 2:30pm)
Also includes a series of tactical workshops and panels:
- "Is Entrepreneurship right for you?" (Oct. 22 at 2:00pm)
- Basics of Budgeting and Saving (Oct. 22 at 6:30pm)
- Lending Circles Orientation (Oct. 23 at 5:30pm)
- Managing Credit and Debt (Oct. 23 at 6:30pm)
- Transcode Co-working Lab (Oct. 23 at 6:00pm)
- The Nuts and Bolts of Buying a Home (Oct. 25 at 10:00am)
