RIVERSIDE, Calif., April 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Friday, April 5th at 11:00 AM at The Historic Mission Inn, Make-A-Wish® Orange County and the Inland Empire set out to make the dream of a 9-year-old girl named Sarah Poulson from Riverside, California, come true. Sarah was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML), a life-threatening medical condition. Sarah's wish was to be a chef for a day and Casey's Cupcakes agreed to help Make-A-Wish® honor this dream for Sarah. To make this day as special as possible Casey's Cupcakes set up a big greeting with a red carpet and flashing cameras. Sarah was named "baker of the day," judged a cupcake competition, signed autographs, and handed out cupcake samples along with some other fun activities.

Casey Reinhardt, owner of Casey's Cupcakes, who is also known as a former winner of the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars," said Sarah was a great chef and did a wonderful job in the kitchen. One of Sarah's family members proclaimed, "I can't believe that I even learned something new today," referring to the secret for how to neatly pour the cake batter into the cupcake holders without spilling a drop. Reinhardt said the secret is using an ice cream scoop.
Cute as a button, Sarah wore her pink Casey's Cupcake apron as she proudly passed out the cupcakes she made to her fans in the crowd. The smile on Sarah's face was brighter than ever. Sarah said she was "a little nervous" passing out the cupcakes. When asked what her favorite part of the day was she replied, "decorating the cupcakes." Her favorite cupcake was "the one with the gum ball on top (the Beach Boy), because of the way it looked." Sarah was also asked, if she could invent a new cupcake what flavor it would be. Her response, "island retreat, and it would be a tropical fruit flavored cupcake with fruit flavored icing."
Sarah was given a basket with an abundance of goodies and Casey's fun merchandise from the store to remember her special day. As she put on her own pink sweater before she went off with her family for lunch, Reinhardt realized something was missing. Reinhardt searched the shelves of her store until she found a pink Casey's Cupcakes sweater small enough to fit this special little girl. Sarah's collection of memories was complete. Sarah's mother, Marina Poulson, said, "I'm sure this will be something she will remember for the rest of her life."
Reinhardt was honored and thrilled that Sarah wanted her to be a part of this special day. It was apparent by the glow on Reinhardt's face that helping children is part of her nature. That must be why Casey's Cupcakes hosts its famous "Decorate Your Own" cupcake parties at all five locations! Reinhardt shares, "What could be better than being surrounded by children and making them smile?"
