This scholarship is just one way Ornstein is using his power and influence to help the youth. In addition to this scholarship over the last year Ornstein has:
- Donated $10,000 towards a new performing arts center for Westmark High School in Westlake Village
- Donated cleats to his high school football program
- Continued giving through donations to the Gene Upshaw Annual Golf Tournament in South Lake Tahoe
- Donated over 100 unique autographed sports memorabilia items to the Jim Mora Count on Me Family Foundation
The winner of the contest will receive $2,000 to go towards college tuition, payable to the university on the winning student's behalf.
When asked about the scholarship contest, Ornstein stated, "I just want to inspire the youth of this country to think about the adversity that some of the most talented players in the nation have to deal with during their collegiate careers."
