"Esther is very deserving of this award," says Stacy Severson, campus director for Minnesota School of Business-Richfield. "She stands out because of her leadership, positivity, determination and drive to succeed."
Pabon was nominated by staff and faculty at her campus and selected by a panel based on criteria, which included being a dedicated student, having good G.P.A. and attendance, community service and campus level engagement. Pabon, who was an on-campus student worker, earned her Associate in Applied Science degree in the medical administrative assistant program in September and was gainfully employed and working in the field before she graduated.
Oberg, massage therapy program chair at the Plymouth campus, was also nominated by fellow staff and faculty and selected based on criteria including her dedication to students, ability to create an engaging classroom environment, continuous professional development, and classroom retention and attendance. She has been an instructor with MSB since 2010 and maintains her own massage business.
"We're so lucky to have faculty members like Diana," says Elaine Vandenburgh, campus director for Minnesota School of Business-Plymouth. "She is loyal and committed to the success of her students."
Pabon and Oberg were recognized and presented with their awards at the MCCA Professional Development Conference on Oct. 17, 2014, in Woodbury, Minn.
