New xG Technology Patent Enables Rapid and Dynamic Communications and Improved Emergency Response Capabilities
Latest Invention Will Automatically Register Users Participating in Expeditionary Telecommunications Deployments
SARASOTA, Fla., Dec. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- xG Technology, Inc. ("xG" or the "Company") (Nasdaq: XGTI, XGTIW), a developer of wireless communications and spectrum sharing technologies, has announced that it has been awarded a new patent for an automated system to quickly and easily register and connect users of the xMax broadband wireless system during expeditionary deployments, no matter what devices they are using.
It is an imperative that emergency organizations can communicate during the initial stage of an incident or catastrophe, when effective situational awareness is required to define the most urgent needs. The new xG patent (the Company's 52nd awarded in the U.S.), "System for automatic registration of expeditionary telecommunications deployments" (U.S.P.T.O #13/959,930) facilitates that communication, while leveraging and extending the rapid deployment capability of the xMax cognitive radio network solution. Now, when emergency response teams arrive at a disaster scene where commercial and/or P25 communication infrastructures have been destroyed or are unavailable, their devices can be automatically connected to a registration server which dynamically delivers their information to all other emergency personnel, both at the scene as well as in the command center.
The implementation of this patented technology with the deployment of the xMax expeditionary broadband network delivers a rapidly deployable and immediately usable communications network. It eliminates the cumbersome process of manually adding people to the network, which can cause critical delays in the overall response effort. Relief teams can arrive at the scene with their own devices, have their information instantaneously added, and begin communicating immediately over a secure, dedicated xMax network limited to only first responders.
"This latest innovation is extremely valuable in fast-breaking and chaotic situations like disaster relief and recovery operations, where various public agencies and private organizations must dynamically join in communications without advance preparation," said John Coleman, CEO of xG Technology.
"This raises overall response capabilities to a new level, by creating a single wireless voice and data communications circuit able to integrate disparate responder organizations and communications technologies," Mr. Coleman continued. "The immediacy of this system is of considerable value to any emergency, public safety or military teams charged with dynamic response to natural or manmade crisis situations. xG's continued innovation demonstrates our commitment to expanding our intellectual property through advances that solve critical challenges in our key markets."
About xG Technology
xG Technology has created a broad portfolio of intellectual property that makes wireless networks more intelligent, accessible, affordable and reliable. The company has created xMax, a patented all-IP cognitive radio technology that enables robust mobile broadband communications for private, consumer and government networks. xMax can solve the crisis facing the wireless industry caused by data-hungry devices and applications that are straining network capacity. It eliminates the need to acquire scarce and expensive licensed spectrum, thus lowering the total cost of ownership for wireless broadband access. xG's goal is to help wireless broadband networks deliver voice, video and data services to fixed and mobile users. The xMax cognitive radio system incorporates advanced optimizing technologies that include spectrum sharing, interference mitigation, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and software defined radio (SDR). These and other technologies make xMax ideal for wide area, as well as rapid emergency communication deployment. xG offers solutions for numerous industries worldwide, including urban and rural wireless broadband, utilities, defense, emergency response and public safety.
