"With the support of public, corporate and private joint partnerships, supporters start as acquaintances," remarked Minister Lindsey Walton, veteran and RTW Veteran Center Administrator. "Then they become friends. Then believers in our work and finally evangelists of our vision."
RTW has pulled out all the stops to ensure this year's fundraiser is memorable and successful. Local comedian and talent producer Kevin L. Fuller will host. Universal R&B legends Reginald Torian of The Impressions and Holle Thee Maxwell are scheduled to perform live, as well as a host of other entertainers. Veterans, business owners, local politicians and grassroots community leaders will provide presentations for the duration of the event, while professional phone operators will process donations continuing through December 31.
Small business and corporate sponsorships packages are available to companies that wish to lend their support to the work of RTW. Meanwhile, fundraiser donations can be made immediately by visiting www.rtwvetcenter.org, or calling 1-800-974-2808. Television commercials for the live-streamed telethon begin airing Tuesday, December 23 and throughout the week on WCIU and its sister stations MeTV, MeToo and Bounce. These commercials can also be viewed on RTW's YouTube channel.
RTW provides hot meals, temporary shelter, employment training, as well as daily transportation to and from employment for the homeless.
RTW connects with members of the community in need through a variety of programs. Direct programs like gardens and clothing provide instant support for those in dire straits, while indirect and opportunity programs give individuals the tools and the confidence to help themselves. Looking ahead, RTW hopes to cultivate new partnerships to make a bigger impact in Illinois.
While RTW staff always seeks volunteers, they also encourage engagement via social media:
