Parking in Downtown San Antonio is Made Easier and Faster with Launch of Real-Time Parking Locator App

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Downtown San Antonio shines with world class art, entertainment, and dining. Now, a new Smartphone app takes the guesswork out of parking, leaving motorists more time to enjoy all that downtown has to offer.

The City's Center City Development and Operations Department is pleased to announce the launch of a new downtown parking locator app provided by Pango Mobile Parking. The City selected Pango, headquartered in New York City, though a competitive bid process earlier this year to help San Antonio visitors and residents find convenient parking.

The free parking locator app helps motorists find a parking space using their Smartphone's location. Garage, parking lot, and meter parking options are identified along with the user's current location. The app includes price data for all downtown parking locations to help steer drivers towards the most convenient and affordable parking downtown.

"With the launch of this free app, residents, businesses and visitors will be able to find parking downtown in real-time, making it easy and fast," said Councilman Diego Bernal. "Downtown San Antonio is becoming more forward-thinking when it comes to the experience of locals and visitors. This is a huge step in the right direction."

Users can sign up by visiting www.myPango.com, or downloading the Pango-Parking App from Apple's App Store or Google's Play store, or calling 1-877-myPango (1-877-697-2646). Signing up is free of charge and secure. Once in the app, users can select San Antonio as the city, where they will see a map showing open parking by street. Additionally, the colored rating feature will help users identify capacity of nearby parking facilities: green indicates high availability; yellow indicates medium availability; and red indicates low availability.
