HealthMine's "Personal Clinical Engagement" technology platform automatically delivers sustainable consumer engagement and return-on-investment for payer and employer wellness programs

DALLAS, Jan. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SeeChange Health Solutions announced today that it will change its name to HealthMine, Inc. (www.healthmine.com) to underscore its exclusive Personal Clinical Engagement (PCE) technology platform. The HealthMine™ PCE platform integrates with any health insurance carrier or employer-sponsored plan and automatically brings together both lifestyle and disease management data and tools into a personalized health portal accessible on any mobile device or Internet web browser. HealthMine's PCE platform, "Automatic Health," is the first cloud-based system to automatically integrate both lifestyle/biometric information and clinical health data from the member's health plan.

Requiring little to no input of data by the participant, Automatic Health provides real-time updates of progress and suggested health actions tied to clinical and biometric information. Personal Clinical Engagement powered by Automatic Health has resulted in engagement rates of 80 percent that are sustained over years of enrollment in contrast to traditional lifestyle-only wellness programs that typically result in declining engagement after just three months. According to a HealthMine/SSI (Survey Sampling International) December 2014 survey of 806 consumers in a wellness program, half said the program did not offer automatic updates of data such as monitoring devices, doctors visits, and biometrics.

Bryce Williams, CEO and President, HealthMine said, "Sustained consumer health engagement has been the 'elephant in the room' missing from wellness programs today. True consumer engagement drives both long-term outcomes and healthcare cost savings by motivating consumers to be—and stay—in active control of their health.  We are bringing this conversation of 'sustained engagement' out in the open – the reason is simple: wellness programs must improve the health of each individual and deliver return-on-investment (ROI) for plan sponsors. Without sustainable engagement, ROI cannot be achieved and participant health is not advanced."

HealthMine has developed the industry's first and only Personal Clinical Engagement (PCE) technology platform which automatically connects personal medical information (claims, biometrics, labs, bio-fit devices and more) with tailored recommendations, resources and incentives to create a comprehensive, personalized view of health available on any device, at any time. HealthMine empowers more than one million users today through its mobile solution delivered by employers and payers.

"As critical partners in healthcare delivery today, more than ever, employers and payers must engage their members with health information that is personally relevant, clinically focused, and automatically available anytime, anywhere," commented Jon Watson, HealthMine's SVP, Operations. "Our Personal Clinical Engagement technology platform—an industry first—delves deeper, mining health data to make it more timely, relevant and actionable for the individual. This enables consumers to take healthcare back into their own hands, and our new name better reflects who we are and what we do. We provide a single portal, or mine, where consumers have access to all information to manage their health. HealthMine is a portable, powerful health assistant and guide."

Sustainable Health Engagement Requires "Personal Clinical Engagement"

Traditional wellness programs often fall short when it comes to sustaining positive health outcomes and cost reductions. Usually based on the latest activity tracking device or app, these initiatives remain disconnected from an individual's comprehensive health information and ongoing health and disease management programs.

The HealthMine/SSI December 2014 survey also revealed that 56 percent of respondents said their wellness program was disconnected from a monitoring device, indicating that lifestyle management is not fully integrated into wellness programs.

Sustained engagement in wellness plans is a challenge.  It is summed up in an article by Eric Magnussen, Vice President of Talent for Cancer Treatment Centers of America®, "One of the main challenges of wellness programs is keeping people involved for the long haul. Just as New Year's resolutions taper off by April…or February…employee participation in wellness programs may fluctuate year after year." This typifies the disengagement inherent in legacy wellness programs.

HealthMine's Personal Clinical Engagement technology platform has brought a key innovation to the wellness industry — it ties a person's health actions directly to their clinical information so that each individual can measure, monitor and improve their health. HealthMine has the only system that automatically synchronizes each person's claims activity and health information with tailored recommendations (health actions and care paths), resources and incentives to create the most comprehensive, personalized view of their health status and choices – right in the palm of their hand.

Automatic Health: The Engine Behind Personal Clinical Engagement

HealthMine's Personal Clinical Engagement technology platform is "Automatic Health." Automatic Health is the first and only wellness industry technology that automatically captures lifestyle and clinical health data automatically. It requires little or no input of data by a consumer, and provides real-time updates of progress tied to clinical and biometric information.

Concluded Williams, "We are moving wellness from a game where one size fits none, to mass personalization. Mass personalization of wellness is truly achieved through a serious, clinically-based platform. That clinically-based platform must include comprehensive lifestyle and claims data, personalized tools and incentives delivered automatically. Pertinent, personalized health information delivered automatically is the key to sustainable engagement. With sustainable engagement, companies, carriers, third party administrators, and payers can realize health plan savings one person at a time. And each person experiencing the power of this automatic technology platform can improve their health and save their healthcare dollars. The key is Personal Clinical Engagement."

Proven Results

HealthMine's Personal Clinical Engagement technology platform outperforms legacy wellness initiatives year-over-year by more than 200 percent in engagement, with 30-50 percent of participants achieving healthy ranges for BMI, BP, Cholesterol and Blood Sugar. With 1+ million active users who have realized more than $100 million in healthcare cost savings, HealthMine continues to create sustained consumer health engagement with measureable financial results.

For example, by using HealthMine's Personal Clinical Engagement technology platform, JFK Health has realized $2.8 million in benefit savings returned to employees in one year, and more than $5 million in healthcare cost savings over the past five years.
