CHICAGO, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite a firestorm of recent media speculation regarding his uniform and naval rank, Cap'n Crunch has remained at the helm of the S. S. Guppy and his late-night talk show "The Cap'n Crunch Show." Late last night, the Cap'n welcomed his longtime friend and silver-screen legend, Burt Reynolds, as an honored guest on the animated online show.
"Oh, Horatio and I go way back," said Reynolds. "We practically started the mustache boom of the late '60s. I'm proud to stand by him today."
The first installment of the two-part interview premiered last night on "The Cap'n Crunch Show" YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/capncrunch
"I've had to navigate some choppy waters these last few weeks, but with the help of Team Crunch and supportive friends like Burt, I see smooth sailing ahead," quipped Crunch. "Now that my Cap'n-hood is assured, I can focus on more important things, like my show...and where to get eyebrow-friendly hats."
While hints have been made about the Cap'n leveraging his recent publicity and talk show notoriety to land a potential guest hosting gig, no official statements have been issued.
"Sorry, but I'm only interested in talking about Burt today," said Crunch. "Any talk show hosts who need an able-bodied stand-in can contact my assistant Sea Dog with offers."
The inaugural season of "The Cap'n Crunch Show" premiered in April and just three episodes remain. As part of his televised quest to make his big comeback and soak up today's pop culture, the Cap'n has learned about social media, reluctantly discovered dubstep, brushed up on the latest fashions and challenged his rival Jean LaFoote to a dance-off. He has been thrilled by the outpouring of support for the show from his online fans and looks forward to revealing a few more surprises in the remaining episodes.
