In the Wake of Highly-Publicized Controversies, the Cap'n's Friend Stands Behind Him and Joins Team Crunch

CHICAGO, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite a firestorm of recent media speculation regarding his uniform and naval rank, Cap'n Crunch has remained at the helm of the S. S. Guppy and his late-night talk show "The Cap'n Crunch Show." Late last night, the Cap'n welcomed his longtime friend and silver-screen legend, Burt Reynolds, as an honored guest on the animated online show.

"Oh, Horatio and I go way back," said Reynolds. "We practically started the mustache boom of the late '60s. I'm proud to stand by him today."

While hints have been made about the Cap'n leveraging his recent publicity and talk show notoriety to land a potential guest hosting gig, no official statements have been issued.

The inaugural season of "The Cap'n Crunch Show" premiered in April and just three episodes remain. As part of his televised quest to make his big comeback and soak up today's pop culture, the Cap'n has learned about social media, reluctantly discovered dubstep, brushed up on the latest fashions and challenged his rival Jean LaFoote to a dance-off. He has been thrilled by the outpouring of support for the show from his online fans and looks forward to revealing a few more surprises in the remaining episodes.
